Art-pop powerhouse Keeper E. celebrates the release of “This Is Like Everything,“ a new danceable, synth-driven single about the way thoughts can anxiously spiral into nothingness and doubt. Stream the track on your platform of choice.
Combining her silvery voice with playful synths and driving rhythms, Keeper E. once again invites us into the world inside her mind with “This Is Like Everything.” Combining intimate glimpses into the pages of her person journal with captivating and beguiling melodies, the songwriter-producer delivers tracks that linger with a romanticized hopefulness, looking back on past loves, regrets, and fearfulness with gratitude and hope.
“The song is meant to capture how anxiety makes all these unnecessary connections in our brains,” says Keeper E., aka Adelle Elwood. “When I have one experience that makes me feel ashamed or gives me a feeling of imposter syndrome, it makes me think about all the other things I don’t know how to do. All these thoughts accumulate until I can apply my lack of confidence in one thing to a lack of confidence in everything else in my life. As we convince ourselves that we are lacking in one area, what’s to say we aren’t lacking in others.”
The single acts as a preview for a new EP from Keeper E. due out on
LHM Records later this spring. The sophomore record follows her critically acclaimed debut,
The Sparrows All Find Food, which earned
Music Nova Scotia‘s
New Artist of the Year award in November 2021. Between records, Keeper E. also released the standalone single “
Fourteen,” which was accompanied by a
stunning, hazy video that premiered via
CBC Music the week of its release.
